As well as Apple’s HIG, there are other areas that I plan to research throughout the project.
I intend to focus on UI design, as it is an area of game design that I would like to improve my skills in, so that this game can have a good clear UI. To improve my UI design, I plan to read and watch:
I have very little experience in sound design at all and, as I want the game to have music and sound that flow well with the game, I plan to do some research in this area.
I need to work on my development skills in Unity, as I have little experience in the engine. I plan to watch Mark Brown’s video on learning Unity for the first time, as it is supposed to take a practice-first approach and that is how I learn best. I also plan to follow Brackey’s series on Unity development for specific problems that I am facing at any time, as his video tutorials cover certain scenarios that I may encounter. Finally, to focus on mobile development, I will review Unity’s mobile solution guide, where they have demos that go into how mobile games have been made.
I need to research the architecture of the cities of the civilisations that I intend to include, during their respective time periods. Doing this will allow me to draw accurate representations of these cities, so that the player may quickly determine where they are by viewing the city in the background. The cities I intend to include are: Thebes (new kingdom era, 1570-1070 BCE), Rome (imperial era, 20-360 CE), Chang’an (Tang dynasty, 618-907 CE), London (Victorian era, 1837-1901 CE), Moscow (cold war era, 1947-1941 CE). To research these, I have gathered the following sources:
